I’ve developed a taste for collage making and I’ve shown some processes on my youtube channel. As you know, one of my latest projects is a multimedia piece- an animation. The collages ranged from still life arrangements to pop art pieces. I turned the pages of Frieze magazine to then notice Tobias Rehberger’s collaboration with LG OLED Art ‘Into The Maze’ in the 2022 edition. I responded to the feel of art work: I began with building a cartoon concept for a scene; creating different characters for the screen, I used POSCA purple and blue marker pens and I highlighted the outline of the characters to make them “pop” from the background. The concept for the animation was strengthened further by the original recording made for the large LED screen in 2022. The characters sit in front of the lens, shot on iPhone whilst talking about the perceptions of Nigerian culture and practices of greeting in the household- in view of ‘respect.’
I relied on screen protective film- sketching characters from an anti glare screen onto a cut of protective film before layering them over different backdrops.
I’m an artist who enjoys making multimedia pieces. I began creating collage ideas for the animation. I considered, how could I use material sustainably to make an animation? In response to this question, I was thinking of what would support the images I was seeing in the film, I chose to make cuts of the sheet for screen protection.
I proceeded to make the cuts into ‘frames’ for an animation that I was working on from February of this current year, 2025. Each frame features my drawing of two people in dialogue while sat on a couch. This was wonderful as this material was the essential link to make the creative process of making an animation possible.

ln the initial stages, I layered one of the cuts of protection sheet onto Tobias Rehberger’s art in the Frieze magazine. I photographed it as a frame for reference.

I’ve since worked with other collages. As I it- sustainability comes in the form of using resources like paper, chalk, markers, screen monitor and protection for making an animation. I trace moments from early influences, whether on style or on thought. Particularly with this animation, you get to see the shared influences and ideas in the lives of 20 somethings in the modern world. Just like the DNA passed on from parent to offspring, one can trace the roots of practices and lifestyle from their families. One could be into football and another may be deeply into music- these are ritualised and normalised through generations.

I interact with makers and I also work closely with art education- both of which have brought me to meet with artisans. I enjoy working with physical material and meeting with others, I shall continue on in my creative endeavours.
As someone who enjoys the process in making drawings by hand, I’d like to begin a new process of designing animations following one which I completed this year. I would be pleased to be sustained as an artist to research and communicate stories in visual form.
Thank you reading the post and watching my content, I like to know that my descriptions and posts are enabling your visual experience at home, at work or in your place of study through print and your screen.
I must acknowledge that I was able to produce an animation with anti glare screen on my laptop and the use of protective film. The sheets of film were so pliable and helpful for my creative process.
I hope to hear from you very soon.
Kind regards,
Ola.
