I have a journal! Here’s a look into my design for a journal/notebook.
I created a special mural, using words around a biblical scripture. Jeremiah 29:11.
Background
It’s something that I’ve been able to do.
I’m one of those who would use a flip book (jotter’s pad). However, I also enjoy journals with those ring bound pages to flip!
I decided to turn to other forms that I enjoy using: turning the page to lay for a new spread. Just like reading a book there’s this new possibility in the next blank page.
process
When I listen to recordings; I often like to start with what is being said. Then; I note the author, the history, or the source it comes from.
understanding what reasoning they have. It can be the view that the speaker has taken & what’s true of the experience,
It helps me to get a context, the background. In their discipline, they give importance to the subject, or hear why it’s relevant to them. Lastly; link it up to the last thing that is said. There’s always time to wonder at what I’ve written down. Phrases do come together and once I read them, I remember the context that they were written in. Next; I hope to draw links between an idea and the phrase. If there’s a line or an acronym contained in the phrase, I’d want to seek out the original source or context. As I mentioned before, my goal is to write in such a way that I would be able to make reason of it. Thinking creatively, I’d apply my own thought, referring to the phrases from the spoken recording. I hear good things from other’s experiences of how they create by way of discussions, panel talks and Q&A. as best as I can recall.
It can be time sensitive- to get me motivated to the task I’m assigned for. It can be an engaging topic where it’s calling for some response: by the time that I write something down, I’m most probably halfway to the end of a thought process.
I find where I am with it. It could be a last line I hear on record, the tone of voice, the pause- words may sprout off from just one word that was used.
I kept in mind the previous blog posts I’ve written about art and making reviews of created pieces. This journal is here to go back to.
